Jhoom, a brand-new drama series from 7th Sky Entertainment, features Zara Noor Abbas and Haroon Khadwani as the key characters for Geo Entertainment. Hashim Nadeem, known for his works Parizaad, Raqs e Bismil, and Khuda aur Mohabbat, wrote Jhoom. Ali Faizan directed the play. Prior to this drama series, we had only seen Haroon Khadwani in the telefilm Rooposh. Usman Peerzada, Haris Waheed, Nooren Gilwani, Javed Shaikh, and Zainab Qayyum all play significant parts in Jhoom.
The
vast and beautiful scenery of Jhoom is captured in a manner that makes it
appear to be a film, and for that, the filmmaker is to be commended. Compared
to other serials, the production quality is pretty good. The fact that Hashim
Nadeem, the famous writer of Parizaad, wrote it, naturally raises the bar for
this series.
Although
Haroon Khadwani's performance isn't outstanding, it has improved when compared
to his last film Roohposh. However, he still has to do a lot of work on how he
delivers the line. He has poor discussion articulation, and sometimes it's hard
for me to understand what he's saying. He is portraying a young man named
Aryaan who is irate, much to how he acted as a man with anger control difficulties
in Rooposh.
Dr.
Mariyam Ikram, who is an experienced physician and elder than Aryaan, is
portrayed by Zara Noor Abbas. She is an orphan caring for her spoilt brat
younger brother Sherry. As the plot develops, we see Aryan enjoying a night out
with his buddies until his friend's car is damaged. Ria, a friend of Aryaan, is
being harassed by Sherry and his thugs until Sherry loses his cool and starts
a fight, which leads to Ria being shot.
Aryaan
locks him up for the evening after becoming so enraged at the hospital where DR
Mariyam is treating Ria that she must lodge a complaint. When Dr. Mariyam meets
Professor Touqeer, the father of Aryaan and a well-known psychiatrist who has
allegedly published a book on anger management, we learn more about the
background of Aryaan.
The
greatest irony, he says to Dr. Mariyam, is that he is powerless to quell the
rage of his own kid. There are several sweet sequences in Jhoom where Mariyam
expresses her attraction to Aryaan. Even Aryaan seems astounded by Mariyam's
attractiveness. We'll see how this romance develops given the age gap between
Mariyam, who is presumably in her 30s, and Aryan, who is in his 20s.
